Quick Bible References to Heal Your Heart and Soul When Faced With Lying

Liar liar pants on fire...do you remember that saying from your childhood? It is one thing to lie when you are a child, but as an adult, I just don't understand it. As Christians, we should aspire to follow in the Lord's footsteps even though we know that we will always fall short. When you make a mistake, it is so important to admit to it, apologize, and move on.

The meaning of the word lie -/laɪ/ http://sp.dictionary.com/dictstatic/g/d/dictionary_questionbutton_default.gif (noun)

1. A false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

2. Something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture: His flashy car was a lie that deceived no one.

3. An inaccurate or false statement.

4. The charge or accusation of lying: He flung the lie back at his accusers.

Lie–verb (used without object)

5. To speak falsely or utter untruth knowingly, as with intent to deceive.

6. To express what is false; convey a false impression.

Lying just drags out the situation, causes more pain and of course anger and or aggravation! It also puts a strain on the trust that you and that person have. I think that every relationship should have trust. It doesn't matter what kind of relationship it is. When you think about it, you have many relationships in your life. Relationships like the ones between you and your significant other, the mechanic, the mailman, your family, the people that you work with, your friends, fellow churchgoers etc. They range in importance but every single one of them would be altered if lying came into the picture. Let's say for example that you lie to the business owner where you take your car to get fixed by giving him a check that bounces. You knew you didn't have the money in the account but did it anyway. Deception is a form of lying. Let's say that you kept bouncing checks. Do you think the place that fixes your car is going to allow you to keep coming back? Here's another example your wife or husband starts to come home late, misses more and more dinners at home, starts getting strange phone calls in which they have to leave the room to talk to that person, etc. You question your significant other as to what is going on and their strange behavior but they just deny it. You know that they are lying. The more important the relationship is to you the more the lie will hurt you.
